Anne-Marie Beretta

Anne-Marie Beretta a été qualifiée d’architecte du vêtement. Collections après collections, la créatrice a porté toute son attention sur la technique rigoureuse qui lui permet d’obtenir le trait épuré, stylisé qui la caractérise si bien. (...) En 1965, styliste pour la société Pierre d’Alby, elle crée avec succès des manteaux d’été en lin terre. A partir de 1967, elle s’exerce dans le cuir et les peaux lainées chez Mac Douglas avec qui elle collabore pendant 20 ans. Parallèlement, chez Ramosport dès 1968, elle renouvelle le vocabulaire formel de l’imperméable, ce qui lui vaut d’être sacrée « reine de la pluie » par la presse américaine.

En 1978, elle devient fidèle du groupe de prêt-à-porter italien Max Mara. Anne-Marie Beretta, qui a fondé sa propre griffe en 1975 fait montre de concentration dans tout ce qu’elle entreprend. Elle appréhende le corps comme une sculpture en mouvement et l’accompagne de volumes épurés, aux coupes et aux montages élaborés.

Pour l’automne hiver 1979-80, elle réalise des manches « coudées », puis pour l’automne hiver 1980-81, des pantalons « genouillés » qui gardent l’empreinte du corps et du geste inaugurant un axe de recherche pour toute une profession.

Les mêmes pantalons raccourcissent abusivement pour créer au printemps été 1987, une allure Tintin qui sera appréciée. La plus japonaise des créatrices françaises s’est distinguée par le goût des structures fortes qui évacuent tous détails superflus. Elle se révèle également virtuose dans les drapés qu’elle dompte jusque dans les tissus lourds et masculins.
